Position Summary
The Quality Control Technician performs in-process inspections, final quality verification, and functional testing of industrial electrical control panels produced in the Panel Build Operation. This role follows the Quality Plan, work instructions, and testing procedures defined by the Quality Supervisor, ensuring panels meet safety, compliance, and performance requirements. The technician also supports traceability, documentation accuracy, and defect containment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process inspections of wiring, assembly, component installation, torque checks, and workmanship per defined criteria.
- Conduct final quality checks including continuity testing, functional testing, power-up verification, and end-of-line qualification.
- Verify labeling, panel documentation, device configuration, and traceability records according to MES/QMS requirements.
- Document inspection findings, nonconformances, and rework requirements accurately in quality systems.
- Escalate defects or safety concerns to the Quality Supervisor and collaborate with production to contain issues.
- Follow established sampling plans, acceptance criteria, and inspection methods defined in the Quality Plan.
- Assist in root cause data collection and corrective action implementation under direction of the Quality Supervisor.
- Maintain calibration status awareness and proper use of measurement and test equipment (multimeters, torque tools, continuity testers).
- Support audit readiness, workstation 5S, and adherence to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High School / GED Diploma
- Minimum 1 year of experience in electrical assembly, panel wiring, or electrical inspection.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and basic electrical symbols.
- Familiarity with industrial electrical components such as relays, breakers, PLCs, sensors.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured inspection procedures.
- Basic understanding of quality documentation and defect reporting.
- Comfort using meters, torque tools, and basic test equipment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Hands-on role in a production/test environment requiring standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Exposure to electrical test equipment, tools, and production noise.
