Job Responsibilities

Position Overview

The Service Electrical Technician is responsible for supporting installation, startup, troubleshooting, commissioning, and service of Fori equipment at customer facilities. This role provides hands-on electrical expertise during equipment installations, production launches, warranty support, and service activities. The Technician works closely with customers, project teams, engineering, and field personnel to ensure equipment is installed safely, operates as designed, and meets customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Field Service & Installation Support

  • Perform electrical installation, startup, commissioning, and service support for automation equipment at customer facilities.
  • Troubleshoot/resolve electrical issues during installation, production launch, warranty, and service activities.
  • Support local/non-local service calls while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Perform hands-on electrical work related to installations, service calls, repairs, and warranty activities.
  • Assist in verifying equipment functionality and ensuring systems meet customer and project requirements.

Equipment Debug & Customer Buyoff

  • Lead and support electrical debug activities to ensure machine functionality is complete and operating as designed.
  • Supervise electrical installation, debug, and customer buyoff activities at customer locations.
  • Work closely with site managers, engineering teams, and customer personnel to identify and resolve open issues.
  • Review installation checklists and open issue lists prior to shipment and startup activities.
  • Participate in pre-installation planning meetings to review schedules, installation requirements, and project readiness.

Customer Support & Training

  • Provide technical support to customers regarding equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Communicate project status, progress updates, and issue resolution plans to customers while on-site.
  • Train customer operators, maintenance personnel, and skilled trades on equipment functionality, startup procedures, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Support customer service requests and assist in resolving technical issues related to installed equipment.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Complete service work orders, field reports, and installation status documentation accurately and on time.
  • Document equipment modifications and field changes; communicate updates to appropriate engineering teams.
  • Assist in development and continuous improvement of service manuals, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment, process, and service improvements to present recommendations for implementation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Service Management, Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Installation teams to support project/customer requirements.
  • Coordinate install/service resources, including warranty materials, spare parts, tooling, and installation kits.
  • Support site leadership in maintaining efficient daily workflow and project execution at customer locations.
  • Provide field feedback to engineering/project teams to improve equipment performance, reliability, and serviceability.
  • Organize travel and maintain credit card expenses.

Safety & Quality

  • Follow company, customer, and site-specific safety requirements while performing field activities.
  • Complete work in accordance with electrical codes, company standards, customer specs, and quality requirements.
  • Promote safe working environment while leading and supporting install activities at customer locations.

Job Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent electrical trade experience required.
  • Minimum 8 years of electrical experience within automated manufacturing, industrial automation, or machine-build environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting machine installation, startup, commissioning, and debug activities.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems, controls components, sensors, motors, and automation equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to lead field installation and startup activities while working independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in support of installation, service, and warranty activities.
  • Ability to support on-call customer needs while assigned to installation and launch activities.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Valid U.S. Passport and ability to travel internationally preferred.

Work Environment

  • Primarily field-based role supporting customer installations, service activities, and production launches.
  • Frequent travel to customer facilities throughout North America and potential international locations.
  • Exposure to industrial manufacturing environments requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Requires standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and working around industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • May require extended work hours, weekends, holidays, and off-shift support to meet customer and project requirements.
  • Availability to support emergency service and installation activities as required.
