Job Summary
The Software Quality Assurance Technician – Level 1 is an individual contributor responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining comprehensive quality assurance activities across complex software systems. This role serves as a technical support in testing methodologies, automation, and defect management and collaborating closely with development, product, and operations teams to ensure high-quality software releases.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Testing
- Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts for applications and system integration
- Perform manual and automated testing, including functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Validate software against business requirements, technical specifications
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects to resolution using defect tracking tools
Automation & Tooling
- Develop, enhance, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts
- Evaluate and contribute to selection of QA tools and methodologies
- Analyze test results and provide actionable insights to improve software quality and test coverage
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work cross-functionally with software developers, product owners and support groups
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, standards, and documentation
- Support release readiness activities and risk assessments
- Collaborate with Quality System Management to maintain an audit trail for software validation processes
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with min 1 year experience or Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with min 2 years experience requried
- Min 1 year of experience in quality assurance or software testing
Technical Skills
- Familiar with software testing methodologies
- Ability to quickly learn test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps)
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation, APIs, and basic code
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing enterprise, cloud-based, or integrated systems
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
