Job Requirements

Education Skills and Aptitude:         

  • Post Secondary Education
  • Knowledgeable of the Solid Wire Department production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities and human resource requirements.
  • Ability and desire to handle a production department with a Four-shift (24/7) operation.
  • Sound judgment and be knowledgeable of welding with the ability to interpret welding results and to correct problems caused by manufacturing.
  • Physically able to push pay-off stands, with up to 4,000+ pound coils of steel on them, from the rear stand position to the front stand position.

Minimum Experience Requirement: 

  •    1 to 2 years of experience in Factory/Manufacturing Setting
  •    Mechanical Aptitude

  

Job Responsibilities

  • To report directly to the Shift Foreman on an ongoing basis and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to maintain a continuous supply of steel, of proper size and color code, for each assigned MIG / Subarc line.
  • Butt weld the lead end of the coil into the tail end of the previous coil for all payoffs/horses which feed all MIG drawing lines. 
  • Butt welds must be accurate and checked to ensure continuous wire movement. 
  • To check the steel coil for knots.
  • To deliver the appropriate coils of steel to the staging area from the steel storage.
  • To split coils of steel, if necessary.
  • To load the pay-off stands and identify the coils with the appropriate color code tag.
  • To remove tangles, kinks, etc. that cause MIG / Subarc line stops.
  • To follow all steel color code control procedures during changeover and at shift changes, including those used when alloy identity is required
  • Abide by and actively support Lincoln Electric’s Environmental Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures with respect to protecting the environment, the conservation of natural resources and the Health & Safety of all employees
